About AbSec LDC

Background

AbSec Learning and Development Centre is the first facility of its kind: we’re the only registered training organisation in NSW owned and managed by Aboriginal people within the child and family space, offering courses specialised to service our Aboriginal community.

We are equipping Aboriginal workers to meet the growing need for qualified staff in disability, leadership, governance, child welfare and child protection in NSW. Our graduates will have the skills most needed in today’s community services environment, coupled with the cultural understanding to make a real difference.

We pride ourselves on putting our Aboriginal culture at the centre of learning, embedding our community’s identity and needs into everything we do. We understand the need to learn in a supportive and culturally sensitive environment, so you can reach your full potential. When you enrol in a course with AbSec LDC, you can be confident in the knowledge that we’ll be right alongside you every step of the way, providing the personal support and professional guidance you need to excel.

Our qualifications are nationally recognised, so you can take them wherever your career carries you. You’ll also have the opportunity to upgrade your qualification to a degree through our partnership with Southern Cross University. So what are you waiting for? Enrol today!

About AbSec

AbSec Learning and Development Centre is owned and operated by AbSec (Aboriginal Child, Family and Community Care State Secretariat), the peak organisation for Aboriginal children and families in NSW.

AbSec advocates for Aboriginal children, young people and families, as well as the Aboriginal organisations that support them. We provide support for communities and policy advice to government on issues affecting our people. We recently founded the Learning and Development Centre because we want to see more skilled and qualified Aboriginal people in secure employment, with rewarding careers providing for their communities.

AbSec is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, going strong for more than 15 years.
